| Language Arts |
Includes English, reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, thinking and speaking skills. Oral recitations, workbook lessons, reading various books, reports, quizzes, tests and essays are used to improve skills. |

Reviews 4th grade concepts and expands on them daily. Explores the number system and basic functions as well as geometry, statistics, fractions, decimals, word problems, and more using concept development as well as computation skills. |

Covers Bible doctrines: bibliology, theism, anthropology, soterilogy, ecclesiology, angelology, eschatology. The class meets daily and involves unit tests and Bible verse memory tests. |

Course fosters an appreciation of language as a gift from God, develops the correct use of English grammar in written and oral communication, uses the Writing Process to teach different types of compositions, encourages clear and effective writing, develops study and reference skills, improves listening and speaking skills and encourages enjoyment through chapter themes and connections to other subject areas.
Grammar units cover sentences, nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, and sentence phrases and clauses. Writing units cover the writing of the following: personal narratives, friendly letters, comparison and contrast essay, book review, tall tale, research report, business letter and poetry. |

Emphasizes good handwriting posture, letter formation, slant consistency, alignment, spacing and neatness. |
| Heritage Studies |
Promotes historic and geographic literacy, as well as, developing a knowledge of God by studying the history of the world and the features of the earth. Lessons cover the continents, immigration in early America, preachers and missionaries, the 50 states, inventions, economics, industrial revolution, westward expansion, citizenship, the Boer War, and the Boxer rebellion. |

Promotes scientific literacy by teaching the child to use scientific knowledge and skills to identify and solve science-related problems. Content covers the history of the moon, insects, arachnids and myriapods, electricity, plats, measurement, digestion, moon's structure and motions, animal defenses, light, machines, trees, and the earth's crust. In addition, the students will experience extracurricular activities unique to their own environment - the ocean and the volcanoes. |
